Merchant Exporter

More Than a Buying Office.
Your Supply Chain Partner.

Finding a factory is easy. Managing everything that happens after you find one is where things get complicated.

Hula Global operates as a Merchant Exporter, working with a network of specialized apparel factories to manage the production and export process for international brands.

From your approved design and tech pack to sampling, sourcing, manufacturing, quality control, finishing, documentation and export logistics — we coordinate the supply chain behind your order.

The problem

Your factory is only one piece of the supply chain.

A garment doesn't appear at your warehouse simply because you found a factory. Behind every production order are multiple moving parts — and traditionally, the brand is expected to coordinate them all.

The Hula difference

We don't just find factories. We manage the supply chain behind them.

Hula Global works with a network of specialized apparel manufacturing partners. Different factories have different strengths.

Our job is to build the right production solution around your product — rather than asking your team to manage the entire manufacturing ecosystem themselves.

“You don't need fewer factories. You need fewer people to manage them.”

How the model works

One commercial partner. A coordinated manufacturing network.

The Merchant Exporter model gives an international brand a single supply-chain relationship while Hula coordinates specialized manufacturing partners and the processes around the order.

Understand the difference

The difference is not who makes the garment. It's who manages what happens around it.

A buying office and a Merchant Exporter can look similar from the outside. The important difference is the role each plays in the supply chain and the level of coordination the buyer receives.

Traditional buying office

Brand → Buying Office → Factory

  • Connects the buyer and factory
  • Often acts primarily as an intermediary
  • Brand may still coordinate sourcing, QC, packaging and logistics
  • Responsibility can become fragmented across suppliers
Hula Global

Brand → Hula → Manufacturing Network

  • Single commercial relationship for the brand
  • Coordinates specialized manufacturing partners
  • Coordinates product development, production and quality processes
  • Coordinates finishing, export and logistics according to agreed scope
Full-package supply chain

Your product. Our supply-chain coordination.

Hula's role can extend across the journey from an approved tech pack to an internationally delivered shipment.

01

Product Development

From tech pack to production-ready sample.

We coordinate the development process around your specifications, including sampling, material considerations and technical requirements.

02

Sourcing

The right materials and production partner for the product.

We work across a manufacturing network and sourcing ecosystem to build an appropriate production solution.

03

Manufacturing

Production managed through specialized factories.

Our network covers different product categories and production requirements rather than forcing every order through the same facility.

04

Quality Control

Quality cannot be an afterthought.

Hula coordinates quality requirements and inspections around agreed product specifications and production standards.

05

Finishing & Packaging

The garment isn't finished when sewing ends.

Labels, tags, folding, packing, cartons and other finishing requirements can be coordinated as part of production.

06

Export & Logistics

We don't stop at the factory gate.

We can coordinate export documentation, freight and customs processes and, where agreed, delivery through to destination.

From approved tech pack to delivered product.

That's what full-package means at Hula Global.

The real value

The real value isn't just convenience. It's accountability.

When multiple companies are involved in getting your product delivered, responsibility can become fragmented. Hula creates a single supply-chain relationship for the brand while coordinating the ecosystem behind the order.

Manufacturing network
Why a network?

We don't believe one factory should make everything.

Different products require different capabilities.

A factory that is excellent at one product category may not be the right choice for another. That's why Hula Global works with a network of manufacturing partners with different capabilities.

“The product determines the production solution.”

KNITS

T-shirts, sweatshirts, jerseys and other knit categories.

WOVENS

Shirts, dresses, outerwear and woven categories.

ACTIVEWEAR

Performance, stretch and technical products.

SPECIALIZED

Workwear, uniforms and product-specific requirements.

Why brands use the model

Built for brands that want to focus on the brand.

Less Supplier Management

Spend less time coordinating a fragmented supplier ecosystem.

Better Visibility

A coordinated view of the production journey and key milestones.

Production Expertise

Access to a broader manufacturing ecosystem and product-specific capabilities.

Quality Coordination

Quality requirements and inspection processes form part of the production journey.

Export Capability

A partner familiar with international shipments and export processes.

Scalability

As your products and volumes grow, the production network can evolve with you.

Full-package model

One partner. Multiple capabilities.

Hula Global connects the moving pieces around your order into one coordinated supply-chain relationship.

Founder
Founder story

The model came from a real problem.

When Hula Global's founder Karan Bose began working across fashion, manufacturing and international supply chains, one pattern became clear: brands were spending enormous amounts of time coordinating the supply chain around their products.

The insight was simple:

“Brands don't necessarily need another factory. They need a partner who understands how the pieces fit together.”

That thinking helped shape Hula Global's operating model — bringing together manufacturing relationships, supply-chain coordination and international export capability.

That's what we built Hula Global to be.

Frequently asked questions

Still have questions?

What is a Merchant Exporter?

A Merchant Exporter is a company that procures or manages goods from manufacturing partners and exports them to international buyers. Hula Global uses this model to coordinate a broader supply chain around international apparel orders.

Is Hula Global a factory?

Hula Global operates as a supply-chain and merchant-export partner working with a network of specialized manufacturing facilities. We don't believe every product should be produced in the same factory.

Does Hula Global manufacture the garments?

Hula coordinates manufacturing through its manufacturing network and manages the production relationship around the buyer's requirements.

Why shouldn't I just work directly with a factory?

You can. But a direct factory relationship can mean your team also has to manage sourcing, development, QC, packaging, logistics and other suppliers. Hula's role is to coordinate those pieces through one supply-chain relationship.

Can Hula handle sampling?

Yes. Once designs and technical requirements are provided, Hula can coordinate the product-development and sampling process.

Can Hula handle logistics?

Hula can coordinate export, freight, customs and delivery requirements according to the agreed scope and Incoterms for the order.

How does Hula approach quality?

Hula coordinates quality requirements and inspection processes against agreed specifications. Specific quality obligations, tolerances and contractual responsibilities should be defined for each order.
